What's the best first class for Dragon Age: Origins?

I ordered Dragon Age: Origins (xbox 360) online and it's coming in in a day or two, and i was wondering what the best first class would be. I'll most likely be an elf. If it makes any difference (not sure how close or different the combat systems are), when i played World of Warcraft, my mains were warrior and death knight. Also, reasons behind your answer are helpful. Thanks ^^What's the best first class for Dragon Age: Origins?
Typical Group :ur typical group in combat will contain one tank, one mage and 2 damage dealers. In the early stages of the game and on easier difficulties u can choose to have all of them in melee range if you wish. The downside is that u r grouping up ur characters, which can put them all at risk of area effect spells and abilities. This also means that ur characters need to run around in order to engage enemies at a distance.Any time you are not swinging ur weapon at an enemy and they are is time where u are losing.

Better Group :A tank, a mage and 2 ranged attackers are an improvement over the typical group. While ur tank runs in and engages the enemy, their role is not to deal damage but to absorb it,so there is no time lost.In the meantime, all ur ranged attackers can focus on and eliminate enemy targets with relative ease.A possible hiccup here is that enemies will start to run towards ur ranged attackers, meaning the tank will be running around a whole lot and u'll need to really manage ur team.Still, from a damage dealing perspective, this group is a very solid make-up.

Best Group :Obviously using the word best is subjective.Everyone will have their own opinion about this but in my experience, this is the easiest way to move through the game without continual reloading. As mentioned in the previous section, ranged combat is preferable to melee since u're dealing damage the entire time rather than running around. It also ensures that ur using the most powerful class in the game to their maximum potential. The best group is made up of a tank and 3 mages. I'm sure u're thinking, wow it's hard enough to manage a single mage, how can I handle 3? That's the beauty about it,u only really need to manage a single one.Put the other two on tactics that attack whomever you are targetting and let the computer cast away.I can guarantee that 3 mages casting Blizzard,Inferno and Tempest will destroy any group of enemies u encounter.Even more so if they all have access to Force Field to protect ur tank and each other. There are many ways to build your group and in the end it's up to u to decide which formation works best for u.

that was only a suggestion that u may want to try out ,if u need more help just email me.

EDITED: sorry forgot to mention this :

When u begin the game u choose which gender, race, and class u want to be.This ultimately leads to which Origin u will embark upon. All Origins lead to the same main story line, the beginning will be different from one origin to the others but once ur reached Lothering it'll be the same except for some alteration in the way that characters interact with u through out the game. ur base stats are also determined by the race and class u select.

hope that helps %26amp; enjoy the excellent game :)What's the best first class for Dragon Age: Origins?
There all bout the same. I started with rouge and liked it but warriors and rouge seem to be bout the same. Rouges can lockpick which is great throughout the game so id start with rouge seeing as you can lockpick and it will make game easier for first time. THen as you learn teh gaem and beat it then try mage or warriorWhat's the best first class for Dragon Age: Origins?
I have no regrets with elf mage.

Elf because they're cool and mage because you get some insane mage powers in the game. You'll have a party of four and some people play three mages and a 'tank' (warrior)
