Will patching Dragon Age Origins mess up my saves?

I have Dragon Age origins for pc. And I started playing a long while ago, and by now, I'm a fair way in.

The patches seem to make significant improvements to the gameplay, and I think I need them to use the DLC and Awakening.

So I just want to know, if I install the patches, will I still be able to resume my character and so on or will I lose him and have to start all over? Will patching Dragon Age Origins mess up my saves?
Don't worry :) It's perfectly safe to patch up the game. It's 1.3 right? You should get a lot of improvement! Mine seems to get more money than usual.

If you're afraid it will ruin your previous save slot try open your document/bioware/dragon age/characters and back up the one character (or all if you have more than one). If somehow patching the newer version corrupts your save game, you can paste the folder back into the exact folder as I mention above.

Hope it helps and enjoy playing :) (Downloading the patch 1.3 enable you to play the DLC Return to Ostagar. You should try that too! It gives you sentimental feeling towards Cailan ;) It's recomended!)Will patching Dragon Age Origins mess up my saves?
Patches don't effect your saves. MMORPGs have patches all the time, and it never makes you start over. Same with uploading updates on consoles. Will patching Dragon Age Origins mess up my saves?
You can use patches just fine. They just make the game run smoother. Your character will be unharmed. Hope this helps ^_^
Now a days, games do not usually affect your saved games when patched, although it is possible. in reference towards the answer before me, an mmorpg's saved gamed is typically saved on the remote server, so it of course, will not be in any way affected by a patch. If the patch will affect your saved game, then it will tend to have a warning.
